
Shinnecock Photo Project attempts to reinforce our connection to the land and aims to present ourselves in a web-based portraiture platform. This project is led by enrolled Shinnecock Indian Nation tribal member photographer Jeremy Dennis.

Jacki Onko: “That is me on the far right holding a weight in the air ( in front of the TV; my dad Charles Smith behind me, Aunt Shirley Smith to his left and Vicky Williams in front of her. The second row on left in the dark jacket is Michael Smith, a couple of heads to his left is Steven Smith, then Monty Smith. Our sister Denise is behind him and that’s our brother Roddy and sister Mable Smith in front of her, our cousin Peter to the left of Mable. Kneeling to the left is Susan Phillips, can’t recognize who is to her left but that’s Dirk Williams to them, then Keith Phillips, Tania Phillips is in front of him, I believe that’s Larry Smith kneeling on the right in a white sweater on the top toe to the left is Mr. James Phillips, to his left is Jake Kellis and then you see Harry Williams. Mrs. Marion Phillips is in front of the TV to my right. I don’t recognize the white boys but I think they are Rumphs. They had donated sporting equipment and posed us all in front of the old schoolhouse.”
